Today’s Voting Day
City council watchers often refer to the seven-five split on council. While it isn’t always the same folks on either side, there’s seven who generally support the mayor, and five who often don’t.
So seven is one seat away from a veto-proof super-majority. If you want to ensure the minority remains robust on council, vote. No ballot? Head to the fairgrounds, elections central this year.
And if you want to bolster the majority voice and try to usher in that super-majority, turn in your ballot. Remember, you can’t get one this year at the Missoula County Courthouse.
Some council races have been close in recent years — close enough for recounts. Maybe this year will bring some landslides, to keep things interesting. In any case, every vote matters, so nudge your neighbor, your coworker, your captive check-out stand grocer, your busy barista.
