Smurfit-Stone Container wasn’t owing money to the state of Montana … until the auditor arrived.
Montana Department of Revenue division administrator Gene Walborn said Smurfit-Stone owes Montana $1.4 million in corporate income taxes, but not because the corporation had fallen behind.
