Ancient relics, no chickens

Props are great in council chambers, and this week’s Missoula City Council meeting yielded at least two. I remember a few years ago when someone whipped out a pair of handcuffs to protest an SID. Then, there was the man who wore a giant chicken suit during the chicken wars.
(Those meetings? “Bock you.” “No. [...]

A really long post

I was going to clean before the 2010 New Year, but the year didn’t wait for me. Cleaning means pitching some notebooks and saving papers and scanning others. So I’m in the middle of it here and wanted to share some of the information I gleaned this year that didn’t turn into stories and scan [...]

Stinky winky

The yucky smells come from the sewer plant, and they come from EKO Compost, too. But the air is smelling rosier and will keep clearing up, albeit “with substantial capital investment.”

42 year resident, 30 year homeowner, 28 year Rattlesnake resident, and
all-around progressive kind of guy, I whole heartedly [...]

Thrussell. The Gables. Sewer. The Montana Supreme Court.

1. The Thrussell peer review people were in town today. Evidently, some hybrid-lanes option is slooowly emerging. That’s a scheme where Russell runs with three lanes in some places and five in others. So, something that’s not really like the citizens’ 3-Plus alternative and not really like the preferred alternative in the draft EIS. Or [...]

Sewer in the ‘Snake

Last week at Missoula City Council’s regular meeting, longtime city critic Will Snodgrass played a recording intending to show the Public Works director isn’t straight with people. The recording was difficult to understand, so this week, Snodgrass returned with a transcript. (It’s re-keyed here from a hard copy.) He also pummeled the council for hurrying to [...]
